The first communion is an important and holy day for Catholics. This religious ceremony is a rite of passage, wherein a person first receives the Eucharist. Much like birthdays or holidays, this is regarded as a special time in a person’s life, which calls for large family gatherings and parties.
“Happy First Communion?”
You may be left wondering what to give someone who had their first communion—do you hug them, give them a handshake, or applaud them?
First communions may not be like the other events you’re used to, but they follow the same standard operating procedure. All you have to do is give them a congratulation card to send well wishes, and that’s it!
Although this is a happy occasion, saying “Happy first communion” like “Happy birthday” or “Merry Christmas” doesn’t quite fit the bill. You can express your joy for them without including the word “happy.” However, you can still let them feel appreciated with a different choice of words.
